Apple [AAPL] has released a new version of iTunes that now sees the launch of iTunes Match. What this new feature does is scans your library for music that you have and then matches it and uploads it so that you can play the songs on any device you have connected to your Apple ID.
If you want the benefits of iTunes in the Cloud for music you haven’t purchased from iTunes, iTunes Match is the perfect solution. It’s built right into the iTunes app on your Mac or PC and the Music app on your iOS devices. And it lets you store your entire collection, including music you’ve imported from CDs or purchased somewhere other than iTunes. For just $24.99 a year.
The only limit on iTunes match is that you can match up to 25,000 tracks. For those tracks that cannot be matched, iTunes will upload them to the cloud so you can still access them on any device.
To get iTunes Match you need to download the latest version of iTunes (check for updates when you open it up) and also be based in the US at the moment.
