Amazon has purchased the domain name KindleAir.com. Amazon purchased it through a domain name service called MarkMonitor which has been used by the company in the past to obtain other domains.
It isn’t exactly clear what the KindleAir.com domain will be used for, but rumours are hinting that Amazon could have purchased this particular name which could be the name of their new tablet device that is rumoured to launch soon. It does raise a question though as Apple already has the MacBook Air name for one of its devices which could cause some legal issues for Amazon.
Alternatively, Amazon might be just protecting trademarks by purchasing domains with the word Kindle in them.
At the moment the KindleAir.com site doesn’t load up. As for the registration details, they still list MarkMonitor as the owner although we believe the records will be updated shortly.
