The LG KM900 Arena has now landed in Europe. The Arena KM900 is LG’s flagship mobile for 2009 and features a new 3D interface. Lets take a closer look.
The LG Arena is outstanding in many ways as such it has Dolby Mobile sound, a WVGA display, a 5 megapixel camera, 40GB of storage and the new 3D S-Class user interface that appears to work quite well. It’s not going to be an easy ride for LG though as there is a lot of competition in the high-end smartphone market such as the iPhone (with the recently announced iPhone 3.0 software), Windows Mobile 6.5 and Palm who are making a comeback with the Palm Pre.
The Dolby Mobile technology found in the LG Arena promises to deliver an exhilarating surround sound experience for users either listening to music or watching movies. The WVGA measures 3 inches and is 4 times sharper then standard QVGA screens which provides an easier to look at screen while watching movies.
The UI is a big change from other phones in the LG range. The UI was designed from scratch and gets rid of the more traditional menu system by putting functions in a 3D cube layout. Gestures are used to rotate the cube to find the menu item you want. As well as offering a 3D cube the menus can also switch to a carousel where you flick the contents up and down the screen.
Overall an impressive looking phone and one well worth looking out for should you want something different from an iPhone, Pre or WM6.5.
