This week, LG has confused a few people in regards to the LG Optimus One getting the Android 2.3 update. The first post was found on Facebook about it where LG said that Gingerbread wasn’t compatible due to the Optimus One processor being 600MHz, but Gingerbread required 1GHz.
Someone stepped in on Twitter and said there were no hard limits. LG then apologized and said they hadn’t received the documentation from Google [GOOG] so couldn’t officially comment.
We guess that documentation has arrived now as LG now says on its site…
LG will upgrade all Optimus One smartphones currently using the Froyo OS to the next version of the Android OS, Gingerbread. Details of the upgrade schedule will be announced locally in due course. We sincerely apologize for the confusion and misunderstanding that was caused regarding this issue.
No release dates are known although they will be announcing them today sometime.

My son is interested in the LG Optimus 7 but since its office suite has a word processor that doesn’t have Cut and Paste I’ve advised him to wait for the 2X-plus a few other things.
