The Apple [AAPL] iPad has sold extremely well to the tune of 3.3 million units we heard earlier this week.
With that demand, LG is struggling to make enough screens to get the iPad on the shelves.
LG Display’s CEO yesterday said that LG had been unable to fulfil all orders for displays used in Apple’s new iPad, but promised ‘without failĀ to catch up with demand by Q2 2011.
The production lines are running at full capacity from what we hear and the demand from Apple keeps growing also.
To fix this, LG is investing another $500 million + in the production of screens for mobile devices. As mentioned above, the company expects that all will be right by Q2 2011.
