Recently, Google [GOOG] commented that Android 2.2 was not designed to be run on tablet devices. This hasn’t stopped the likes of Samsung releasing the Galaxy Tab amongst a few others.
What Google recommended was that manufacturers wait for a more suitable version of the operating system, which we believe is Android 3.0, codenamed Gingerbread. The new version has no release date just yet although it is expected early next year.
What LG has said about its tablet device is that it will definitely not run the Google Android 2.2 operating system.
An unnamed official has ‘categorically written off the possibility of his company producing an Android 2.2 tablet.’ The mystery LG informer has said that his company wants “the most suitable version [of Android] for our tablet and that is not Froyo 2.2.”
LG follow Motorola in plans to wait for the correct version of Android to arrive. Lets hope its worth the wait!
