An old MacBook Air has been hacked and now has a four finger gesture capable touch pad. This is thanks to a guy who used a new MacBook Pro CD and somehow got the software to work on his Air.
Installation discs don’t work on other Macs as they are designed for restoration purposes. But, with a bit of effort MichaelB managed to get this new OS and drivers on to his older MacBook Air. But, this didn’t actually work with out a little more effort. By rummaging around in the system he managed to find something that made the option become available in the system preferences.
For details on how to perform this hackery for your self you need a pre October 2008 MacBook Air and some instructions which can be found here.
