MapQuest is a service I haven’t used for a few years. However, I see they are still in the game in that they have now just released an Android App that is available free for download in the Android Market.
The MapQuest App allows another option for turn-by-turn navigation on Android based devices. Other features include voice search, walking and driving directions, live traffic, voice guided directions and points of interest.
We hear from the team at MapQuest that the iOS version of the app, that released a while back, is actually used as much as Google Maps on the iPhone although we are unable to verify that of course.
Either way, the screen shots show a decent alternative to Google Maps Navigation on Android and as it’s free to download, so why not give it a try?
From what we hear, it uses the OpenStreetMap Data and thus, international maps can also be provided.
