Engadget is reporting today that Microsoft [MSFT] will not be paying Windows Phone 7 developers until at least February 2011. At that point, it will be five months since apps were allowed to be submitted to the Market Place.
The problem here is of course that developers prefer to be paid quicker. Microsoft is already taking money for app it sells, but at this point seems to be holding on to it until everything (ie, technicalities) are ironed out.
The details come from a thread over on MSDN where a developer asks when reporting will be made available and when payments are starting. The answer came… “Payouts are slated to start in February, 2011.”
