A couple more pictures of the iPad 3 have leaked. The first one (pictured below) shows a front view of what is believed to be a Retina Display. The second (further below), shows some internal components as well as the glass from behind.
It is believed that Apple will be opting for a Retina display on the iPad 3 which means it will likely have a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. Although this drops the PPI below 300, the iPad is held further away from the eyes than an iPhone and therefore, can be still classed as Retina.
The iPad 3 will likely keep the 9.7 inch screen size although some rumours hint at a thinner bezel surrounding it. Also we’ve heard it will be marginally thicker by 1 to 1.5mm although a larger tapered edge will be used to make it feel a little slimmer.
Expect to hear more within the next 2 – 3 weeks. March 7 is the rumoured date of the announcement and March 14-16 is expected to be the launch date in the US. Perhaps we’ll also see that launch date in the UK as well as that time.
