Motorola DROID Android 2.1 Update Delayed

Motorola DROID owners were supposed to start getting the Android 2.1 update yesterday, but unfortunately the idea fell flat on it’s face… at least for now.

The OTA software update for the DROID by Motorola is TBD reads the message on Verizon’s internal systems, ‘A new date will be communicated as soon as possible.

What this means is that no date is available for the OTA update to happen. Depending on the reasons for delaying the launch we could be looking at days or weeks before the Android 2.1 update arrives.

The reasons could include a last minute check revealing a bug. With such a large user base to roll out to they need to get it spot on to prevent headaches from customer service calls.

As soon as we hear of a new launch date we’ll post the update here.

  1. So their main concern is not to get their customer service department blown up with calls? We should all make it our personal duty to call repeatedly asking where the hell is my update.

  2. Why don’t you just relax and wait for a good update? You want an update with bugs in it? I don’t….

  3. Yeah, that’s a great idea. Call tech support and ask them to release buggy software. Now we know why tech support has to treat everyone like dummies: the caller usually is.

  4. The update is released but with 2.1 (update 1). That means its not a complete update. I check only the gallery and live wallpaper is active. rest menu and all same.
