The Motorola Droid Bionic has only just launched and iFixit has already managed to take it apart to see what goes on inside it. The Droid Bionic is classed as one of the most repairable smartphones that iFixit have ever taken apart. It shares the lead with another Motorola device called the Atrix. To get inside you just need a Torx T5 screwdriver and some long nails to separate the casing to pull it apart.
As mentioned, there’s a hefty amount of screws holding the Bionic together but once they are all unfastened it’s just a matter of pulling the front off of the back of the smartphone. When inside, you’ll find a bunch of EMI shields which need to be unsoldered. Other than that the device comes apart relatively easy with a nice switch from long ribbon cables down to individual cables so that only single parts can be replaced rather than a few at a time.
All the images of the teardown can be found over at iFixit.
