Murata has managed to create some ultra-thin speakers that are waterproof. They use piezoelectric technology to product sound and measure just 0.9mm thick.
The speakers can be used in devices such as mobile phones,, cameras and laptops to allow for smaller form factors.
As well as being able to produce sound, the speakers are also waterproof. The waterproofing was achieved not by covering the holes which is a common method that reduces the quality of sound, but by using a new method in the design of the holes themselves.
The speakers are on sale now to manufacturers and cost $2.70 per unit. Via: Gizmodo
