At the moment, Apple gets iPhone and iPad processors from Samsung. This could be changing soon though to a company called TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company). Reports earlier this year hinted at TSMC being used by Apple and it seems that a contract has now been signed.
TSMC is believed to have quietly secured Appleās contract, and even succeeded in extending the deal to cover the manufacture for the A6?s successor, the sources said.
The reasons for this are possibly related to the large amount of patent disputes going on between Apple and Samsung at the moment, or it could be due to something else entirely (perhaps even a second manufacturer if that’s possible). We wont know for sure but in the next generation iPad and iPhone we will possibly see a different processor inside.
