Nokia has announced a new white version of the meego powered N9. Although the device wont ship to the UK, it’s still worth a mention for those who can purchase the device.
As well as introducing a new white version of the Nokia N9, the company is also about to roll-out an update for the device which brings music control keys to the lock screen and the ability to close apps by swiping down on the screen. The update will be made available by the end of the year at the latest.
Back to the white version of the Nokia N9… the reason it took a while to launch was due to the complexities of creating a white phone.
“The manufacturing process for beautiful white products is quite complex and we wanted to make sure we deliver the best possible quality for our consumers.”
We assume this is a similar reason as to why Apple took so long to launch the white iPhone 4. Perhaps getting the device to look exactly white is a technical challenge that both companies had to work on.
We also hear from Nokia Conversations that the white finish is glossy rather than matte like the black, cyan and magenta versions of the phone have.
The first version of the white N9 will be available any week now with the 64GB model launching first.
