Nokia today announced officially the Nokia N8 that we have been seeing leaked pictures of for a while now. The new N8 is to run the Symbian^3 platform and also has an impressive 12 megapixel camera using Carl Zeiss optics.
We have known most of the features for a while now with all the leaks going around, so it’s good to hear that most of what we heard was correct.
The 12 megapixel camera sensor also allows the Nokia N8 to be able to capture HD videos. A smart built-in editing suite is included on the device for quick edits to movies captured. The screen measures 3.5 inches and is also HD and capacitive touch. A HDMI connector is included on the N8 allowing it to connect right up to a HDTV if needed.
Other features include 16GB of built in storage and another 32GB can be installed via microSD taking it up to 48GB in total capacity. Twitter and Facebook are also a part of the user interface with live streams being sent direct to the desktop.
Ovi Maps is also included on the Nokia N8 allowing you to navigate in over 70 countries around the world free of charge.
Nokia aim to start shipping the Nokia N8 in the 3rd quarter of this year with the phone costing ‚¬370 before tax and subsidies.
