The Nokia N8 in the US is beginning to get an update which brings Symbian Anna to the smartphone. Symbian Anna was released a couple of months ago in other countries but now allows US users to also get the new version of the Symbian OS. As well as the Nokia N8 getting the update the C6-01 and the E7 are also getting the new software.
Symbian Anna brings a few new features to compatible Nokia smartphones which includes a spruced up UI as well as a landscape QWERTY keyboard. A new browser is also included as is a new version of Maps. We also have found after testing for a couple of months that storing more text messages is also possible. On the previous version of Symbian the device used to slow down when reaching a certain point of text messages.
To get the update you need to check for updates on your device and then download it OTA. Alternatively you can install Nokia Suite on your PC and check for updates that way. A full backup is performed if done that way and in the process, no data is lost.
