Apple has released OS X Mountain Lion on the Mac App Store today. The updated operating system is now ready for download for £13.99 in the UK and $19.99 in the US.
As the OS is only available for download, you might want to plan the timing of your download correctly as it weighs in at just over 4GB in size. Some ISPs have restrictions through the day to try prevent large files from being downloaded.
The new update brings a number of new updates to the Mac which includes Messages that are tied in with iMessage on the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. The Messages app lets you continue on conversations on the desktop and take them with you on your mobile device.
iCloud is now more deeply integrated with the Mac and allows documents created and edited on the Mac to be seamlessly sent to the cloud so that iOS devices can also have access with those files.
Other features include the Notification Center that lets you know when certain events happen such as emails being received and messages being received. Just like the iOS version of Notification Center, you can opt to select the information you want rather than being bombarded with notifications from every service.
The full details can be found in the Mac App store. The new OS is available for download now.
