Microsoft Windows Phone 7 Update Begins Rolling Out

Microsoft [MSFT] has announced that it is rolling out a new Windows Phone 7 update, actually the first ever update for the platform.

Before you get excited about copy and paste though, this first update (first of many as the Windows Phone Blog mentions), is just a preparatory update that doesn’t change anything for the user in terms of day to day usage. Chrome Browser May Get Vanishing Address Bar

Google [GOOG] is working on the next version of the Chrome Browser and one of the features that is currently being considered is the address bar that might vanish when moving the mouse away. The idea behind it is to save space at the top of the screen allowing for other buttons or controls, or perhaps a larger browsing window to be made available.

As well as looking in to the vanishing address bar, three other interfaces are also being considered. These include the classic, sidetab, touch and compact with classic being what you have now. The other three include the previously mentioned compact which compacts the header at the top of the page. Huawei Could Bring Internet to London Underground

When the 2012 Olympics kick off in London, you might be able to get online whilst using the London Underground. This is thanks to Huawei who is currently in talks to provide the necessary equipment to bring all parts of the underground.

The hardware will be provided by Huawei while the installation and maintenance would be carried out by Thales. Price wise, estimates indicate it will cost £100 million for the installation which will go along the roof of the tunnels. [Read more…]

Sony S2 Dual-Screen Android Device with 5.5 Inch Displays Leaked

Last week we saw details of the Sony S1 Playstation certified tablet. That particular tablet is will run Android Honeycomb and also will play Playstation games. It has a 9.4 inch screen.

We now hear that Sony also plan to launch a clamshell version similar to the S1. This second device is called the Sony S2 and is said to have two screens that are each 5.5 inches in size. The S2 is odd in shape in that it’s more of a cylinder when closed. However, it does run similar specs to the S1 which means it will include a Tegra 2 SoC as well as WiFi and 3G connectivity built in. [Read more…]

Hanvon HPad A112 7 Inch Froyo Tablet Announced for Europe

Hanvon has announced a new tablet device. This particular tablet is called the Hanvon HPad A112. It has a 7 inch screen that shows 800 x 600 pixels and runs Google Android 2.2 Froyo.

The tablet is powered by an ARM processor running at 720MHz and for storage, it has 2GB. [Read more…]

Allen, Allen, Allen and Allen, have created a new app for Android called My Lawyer. What this app does is provide on tap assistance for when you find yourself in an accident. It works by telling you exactly what to do in the event of an accident, such as giving details as to what information to collect, what pictures to take and who to call.

Nintendo 3DS Teardown

The Nintendo 3DS will be launching in Japan in the next few days. Somehow, someone managed to get hold of one early to tear it down and see exactly what Nintendo have crammed inside the case.

As you might already be aware, the Nintendo 3DS has a glasses free 3D screen allowing gamers to be more immersed in the action. Unfortunately, there is no detailed breakdown of the screen other than seeing it embedded in the casing of the 3DS, but expect over the coming weeks we’ll see a more indepth breakdown in regards to the screen. 12 More File Types Added to Google Docs Viewer

Google has updated Google Docs Viewer to now include 12 more file types.

For those not familiar with Google Docs Viewer, it is the system that Google uses to allow you to read documents found in emails without downloading the attachments, or at least thats one way to use it. Rather than cluttering your harddrive with a bunch of documents you have downloaded, the Docs Viewer lets you quickly view them in GMail for example where a webpage opens containing the document. Motorola Xoom Tablet Will Not Include Flash Support at Launch

Verizon has added a dedicated page to its site showing the Motorola Xoom along with the release date of February 24.

The screen shot above shows a few of the already known specs but also hints that Adobe Flash will not be available on the tablet at launch. The reason for this is believed to be because of Motorola waiting for Adobe Flash 10.2 to be launched for Android 3.0 Honeycomb. Although for some this might cause a problem, the release date is suggested as Spring 2011, so essentially, it wont be that far away till it is made available. [Read more…]

Apple Could Introduce New High-Speed Connector

Apple is expected to soon announce a high-speed connector based on Intel Light Peak technology. The Intel Light Peak system allows data to be transmitted at high speed over copper wires and in the future, copper will be replaced with fiber-optic.

It is believed that the high-speed connector that Apple introduce will use the Light Peak technology, but not use that as the name for it, ie: they will work with Intel and launch it under a different name. [Read more…]

New Toshiba Android Honeycomb Tablet Could be the Antares

At CES earlier this year, Toshiba unveiled a new Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet. When it was first unveiled, it ran Android 2.2 as no Android 3.0 OS was available for demonstration.

We know a lot of the specs on this device such as it having an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core CPU along with a 10.1 inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. We also know that the battery is removable and that there’s a HDMI port and USB port. [Read more…]
