Verizon iPhone 4 Available at Apple

Apple is now selling the Verizon iPhone 4. When loading up the Apple website, the AT&T and Verizon iPhones are now listed with exactly the same price for each model. The only difference (other than the technical difference of CDMA) is that it takes about 9 days to ship the Verizon model as opposed to the AT&T model which ships within 24 hours. This of course, is due to the phone being launched tomorrow.

Although the official release date is tomorrow, the Verizon iPhone 4 sold out of all pre-orders within 24 hours when it first went on the Apple and Verizon websites. For this reason, it appears that there is a lack of stock now which is contributing to several days delay in shipping. [Read more…]

iPad 2 Goes in to Production – Cameras Included

Apple has given the go ahead for the iPad 2 to go in to production. This is according to the WSJ who reported that the second generation tablet device would have a front facing camera allowing video calls to be made.

We also hear more confirmations that the screen will not be a higher resolution. Earlier reports have been swayed both ways with some saying the screen will be retina and others saying it will be the same but thinner with a thinner bezel around the edge. This report from the WSJ hints at it not getting a retina display this time around although this could happen on the iPad 3. [Read more…]

Verizon iPhone Could Require Modified Apps – We Don’t Think So

The Verizon iPhone wasn’t expected till February 10 although some devices already started to arrive to customers as early as yesterday. Along with that early arrival, some very interesting information has been found out about apps for the Verizon iPhone. What ZDNet found out was that some apps might require some changes to be compatible with the new iPhone 4 on Verizon. The difference isn’t due to changes with the telco, but instead, it appears that differences with the CDMA chip inside has caused a problem (or has it?).

The first app that needed to be modified was the Telenav Navigator app. The company who create it has not specifically said what hardware caused the change to be made, but ZDNet speculates that it’s the GSM to CDMA switch. When looking in to this more though, it’s nothing at all to do with the hardware of the device. [Read more…]
