Priority Inbox Lands on Gmail for Mobile

Google has added the Priority Inbox feature to the mobile version of Gmail. Until now, the priority inbox feature was available for Android smartphones in the app as well as regular web users. This new change brings it to the mobile version for smartphones and from what we can see, the iPad too although that might have been available previously.

Priority inbox on mobile can be seen when clicking the Menu button. Previously you’ll have just seen the inbox, sent items, starred items etc… Now when clicking menu you see a section at the top of the screen (as pictured below) and here you can go direct to your priority emails. One problem is that you cannot designate emails to be more or less priority from the mobile interface, so once in a while you’ll still need to visit the desktop to train the system. [Read more…]

Amazon Kindle 3.1 Update Brings Real Page Numbers to Books

Amazon is about to make available a new update for the Amazon Kindle. The new update brings a couple of relatively small updates to the software although each update is actually quite handy.

The new Kindle 3.1 update will be made available for download in a few days time and when launched it will allow Kindle users to use real page numbers on books. For those who use the Kindle, you’ll know that page numbers do not match the physical book which makes it awkward when referencing a Kindle whilst in a class for example. With the new update, the class lecturer can ask you to turn to page 234 and you’ll be on the same page as all others who have the physical books. [Read more…]

Android 2.4 Could Make an Early Appearance as Gingerbread

New information today reveals that Google might be releasing a new version of Android as early as April. The new version will be designed for smartphones and will follow along with the 2.X branch being called Android 2.4. Here’s something interesting though as it is now believed that Google will call Android 2.4 Gingerbread even though Gingerbread already exists as 2.3.

The reasons for this seem to follow along with how Android 3.0 Honeycomb apps will work in that dual-core apps designed for Honeycomb will then be made compatible with single-core apps on devices running Android 2.4. This, apparently, is not possible with Android 2.3 in its current form. [Read more…]

Canon Introduce Canon T3i and T3 Digital SLR Cameras

Canon has announced two new digital SLR cameras called the Canon T3i and the T3. The T3i (also known as the 600D in the UK) is a step up from the Canon T2i that launched last year. This model has an 18 megapixel CMOS sensor similar to what is found in the EOS 550D, 60D and 7D although Photo Radar comment that the sensor is slightly different although it’s unclear in what ways. The sensor allows it to capture full HD video.

The Canon T3i has an articulating LCD screen that can move out and swivel around for times when the camera needs to be held low or high, or at some obscure angle. This particular model sits at the top of the entry-level stack of cameras while the Canon T3 is designed more for beginners to use. [Read more…]

At the moment, the updated app store is only available to iPad owners and it isn’t clear just yet if the smaller screen iPod touch and iPhone will get the same treatment. [Read more…]

Rumors are hinting that Apple might announce the iPad 2 on the same day that iOS 4.3 is announced. That date is expected to be February 13.
