Apple held a memorial event last week on the Cupertino Apple campus. The event was for all Apple campus staff as well for all other staff in retail locations around the world. Apple stores shut down for a few hours so that staff could watch it.

Streaming Film Rentals Now Available in the UK Android Market

Users of Android in the UK have just been given the ability to stream movies in the UK from the Android Market. This feature has been available to the US for a while now. A work around was available in the form of a quick hack, but now that hack isn’t needed as Google [GOOG] made it official and switched on the service this morning.

Verizon Sold 2 Million iPhone 4 Units Last Quarter

The 3rd quarter 2011 results posted by Verizon show that the iPhone 4 has done particularly well. It was announced that they saw two million iPhone 4 smartphones sold within the 3 months of the quarter. Remember that this is the iPhone 4 and not the 4S we are speaking about here. Moving on to the iPhone 4S, specific numbers were not provided but it did comment that sales were extremely strong at launch and that they are still struggling to get more stock to satisfy demand.

Nintendo 3DS and Wii to get Hulu Plus – 3D Capture as Well for Handheld

Nintendo has made an announcement informing us that Hulu is headed to the Nintendo 3DS and Wii. Support for Hulu on these systems will be added by the end of this year.

Nintendo also mentions that the 3DS will also get an update that will allow it to capture up to 10 minutes of video in 3D.

iOS 5 on iPad 2 Security Vulnerability Spotted

Since the launch of iOS 5 the iPad 2 has gained a security issue which allows a smartcover, or any other magnet, to be used to bypass the lock screen.

Although some of the things you can do when bypassing the lockscreen are limited, if you leave an app open on your device it can allow users to get in and delete apps or use the last app you had open. If you close out the app you are last in then the user can still delete apps and look at what you have (and search spotlight), the user cannot open apps.
