NTT DoCoMo Confirms November Launch for Galaxy Nexus

NTT DoCoMo has confirmed that the Galaxy Nexus smartphone will be launching in November. The device will be announced in Hong Kong in the next few hours.

The new smartphone is an Android based device that will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This is also the first device to run the said operating system.

A6 Processor for iPhone 5 and iPad 3 Could be From Samsung

When Apple [AAPL] releases its next generation iPad we could be seeing an A6 processor inside that has been built by Samsung. Samsung currently make the processors for iOS based devices (the older A4 chip and the newer A5 chip). It is now believed that they will be making the next generation chip for next years devices.

Instapaper for iOS Updated

Instapaper for iOS has received a BIG update. The new version is 4.0 and brings with it a few changes as well as design changes on the iPad to make better use of the larger screen.

The iPhone version, pictured below, shows a more unified navigation system. The design for the iPhone has also been tweaked a little. When reading an article the top navigation has been removed (can be put back if desired) so that the screen is less cluttered and provides more reading space.

Twitter Integration with iOS 5 Brings 3x More Signups

Since the launch of iOS 5 last week, Twitter has seen signups increase by 3 times. The reason for this of course, is that Twitter is now integrated with iOS 5 and allows iPhone/iPad users to connect up their Twitter account so that various information can be tweeted from various iOS 5 apps.

iPhone 4S Sales Reach 4 Million in First Weekend

Although Apple [AAPL] didn’t impress some people with the launch of the iPhone 4S (a lot were expecting a different design and a new name of the iPhone 5), it seems that this hasn’t caused problems for sales in any noticeable way as the company has now announced that 4 million units were sold within the first weekend of launch.

30 Million Samsung Galaxy S Smartphones Sold Around the World

Samsung has done well with the Galaxy S smartphone range. When the Samsung Galaxy S first launched it was one of the best smartphones on the market. It was powerful, had a great screen and was a great leap forwards for Android devices. The Galaxy S II has also done well for the company.

Samsung has announced today that the Galaxy S range of smartphones have seen 30 million sales since the original launch. This number represents both the Galaxy S and Galaxy S II sales.

Microsoft [MSFT] has announced that it completed the $8.5bn purchase of Skype.

Google Translate for Android Now in 14 Languages – Speech to Speech

Google [GOOG] has released an update for Google Translate that allows Android smartphone users to communicate with people in 14 different languages. The new update works using speech-to-speech in conversation mode where you can select your language and then specify the language of another person. You can then speak and Google translates your text. You can then hit a button and have the other person speak in their language and it then converts it back in to your language so you can think of a reply to speak back.

Maps and Local Search for Siri Coming in 2012

One of the big let downs of the iPhone 4S launch was that for those of you out of the US, Siri has even more limited capabilities. In our Siri Review we noted that Apple [AAPL] had pulled out support for maps, directions and business searches. Although we have been told it’s coming, we hadn’t been told if that would be weeks or months. It turns out that it’s still several months away:

Maps and local search support will be available in additional countries in 2012.
