Intel is working on its next generation of processors and from what we hear, the power requirements will be much less which in turn means that the battery life in a laptop can be extended further. When Intel launches the Haswell architecture in 2013 they estimate that battery life on a laptop using these chips will be a full day (24 hours).
Windows 8 Explained in 8 Minutes
Details about Windows 8 launched yesterday along with a developers download of the OS. The new operating system was detailed in a 3 hour keynote which packed in a lot of impressive details about where Microsoft is headed with the OS. Some people like Windows 8 while others think it will fail.

Microsoft has released Windows 8 to developers today. The Windows 8 download will be available at 8PM PT today. Microsoft made the announcement earlier today at the Build conference
Firefox for Tablets Android Version Ready for Testing
Last week we showed an update on where Firefox for Tablets was in terms of design. What we saw was a well designed browser with a handy tabs section that appears down the side when in landscape mode. We now hear that a test version is available for Android tablet users to download.
Multitasking on the iPad Concept Video Released
We often come across iPad and iPhone concept ideas. Normally they relate to something that is unreleased such as the hardware or some software feature that isn’t available. Today, the concept we came across was for a spruced up version of multitasking on the Apple iPad. The regular multitasking on the iPad happens when you double tap the home button and a bar scrolls up from the bottom of the screen to reveal which apps are still in use. You can then scroll to the right to find the app you want to carry on with or tap elsewhere to close it out. This new version is a little different.
Android to be Optimised for Intel Chips
Google Android will soon run on Intel Chipsets according to an announcement made earlier today. Over at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) Andy Rubin of Google went on stage with a prototype smartphone running Google Android 2.3 which was powered by an Intel Medfield chip which is the latest in the Atom series from the company.
Another HTC Runnymede Photo Leaked
Earlier today a picture of the HTC Runnymede was posted online. We now have a second picture that shows the back of the device as well as a side profile.
iOS 5 Beta 8 Coming Friday
iOS 5 beta 8 will likely launch this coming Friday. From what we understand the beta 8 version will be the final beta in preparation for the GM release which is expected on or around September 23.
Auto Rollover Contracts to be Banned by Ofcom
The UK communications regulator Ofcom is bringing new rules in which will prevent auto rollover contracts from being legal. At the moment a company such as BT can make a contract auto renew at the end of the initial agreement. Under the new rules this practise will be banned.
iPhone 5 Redesign Might Not Happen
A number of people believe that the iPhone 5 will be different to the iPhone 4 in terms of design. Some suggest that tapered edges (like the iPad 2) will be part of the design. Some think a slimmer model with a larger screen will be made. Some cases have hinted at slightly different dimensions as have other leaked details. But, we are hearing now that Apple could be keeping almost the exact same design in the new model.
iOS 5 GM Release Expected September 23
iOS 5 is expected to launch within the next month or so. We now hear that the iOS 5 GM release date will be in the last week of September which will then be followed by the official launch sometime in the middle of October.
iCloud Beta Included in Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 Beta
A new version of Mac OS X rolled out on Sunday evening to developers. The new version is 10.7.2 and with it, iCloud has been included. Although iCloud has been available on the beta versions of Mac OS X for a few weeks now, this is the first time that it has been included in to the OS rather than via another install package.
