Samsung Announced Galaxy S2 Release Date for UK – May 1

The Samsung Galaxy S2 will be launching in the UK on May 1. Samsung made the announcement today where it also confirmed that it will be made available on all networks.

The Galaxy S2 is the next generation model from the Galaxy S that launched last year. It includes an improved screen that is still Super AMOLED, but also carries the Plus name on the end of it.

The operating system running on the S2 will be Android 2.3 Gingerbread. [Read more…]

G-Form iPad Case Protects Screen from 12lb Bowling Ball

Cases for the iPad come in all different designs. What makes one better than another is the ability to keep the tablet safe when dropping the iPad, or dropping something on the iPad.

G-Form has built an iPad case that is capable of protecting the screen from a 12lb bowling ball dropped from 3 feet on to it. Ex Nintendo and Activision PR Staff Hired by Apple – Rumor

Today, we hear that Apple could be hiring some new staff. This would normally not be too exciting although this time, we hear that the staff being hired are ex Nintendo and Activision PR staff.

The Nintendo staff member is Rob Saunders who was Nintendo UK’s head of PR. It is expected that his role will be related to PR and that the work will revolve around gaming on the iOS platform. [Read more…]

TomTom Pro 9150 GPS Launches – Includes Vehicle Tracking

TomTom has launched the TomTom PRO 9150 GPS unit. The new satnav unit includes a 5 inch screen and has been designed for business users. As well as being able to show drivers the best route to travel, the unit also works with WORKsmart and allows real-time communication to an office which in turn, can let management know where its drivers are.

This might seem a bit obtrusive for some, but for a business it allows the company to work more efficiently such as working out which driver is closest to a call out. Rather than having to phone around, the main office can speak direct to a driver who could be minutes away from a call out. [Read more…]

Adobe Software Can Now be Rented – Photoshop $35/Month

If the licenses for Adobe software are a little too much to swallow at once, Adobe is now giving the option of renting its software. Rather than paying the full $699 for a Photoshop license, you have the option of paying either $49/month with no contract or if you agree to 12 months upfront, you can pay $35/month.

Various software packages are available which includes the already mentioned Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Indesign, Flash, Premiere and After Effects. A full chart of pricing can be found below. [Read more…]

Three New PhotoShop Companion Apps for iPad Announced

Three new apps for the iPad are being launched by Adobe. The new apps are described as Photoshop companion apps and each allows you to work with the desktop version of Photoshop on the Mac.

The three apps are called Adobe Color Lava for Photoshop, Adobe Eazel for Photoshop and Adobe Nav for Photoshop. By connecting your iPad up to your computer via a WiFi connection you are given the ability to use Photoshop on the desktop in a more unique way.

Take Adobe Nav for Photoshop as one example. What this app does is allows the iPad to be used as a navigation tool for the desktop version. What you can see are the various windows on your iPad opened up as thumbnails. By tapping one, it switches what’s on the screen to what you selected. [Read more…]

HTC Flyer Tablet Now Up for Pre-Order in the UK

The Carphone Warehouse in the UK now has the HTC Flyer listed for pre-order. The model available is the SIM-Free version and when launched, will be SIM free allowing you to use it on any network.

Price wise, pre-orders are £599.99 although we don’t know at the moment when exactly Carphone Warehouse will launch it. A message does say in-stock, but the title also mentions it’s a pre-order. Images of webOS 3.0 have been captured from the webOS emulator which provide us with a bit more details of what the new HP TouchPad will work like when it launches.

Angry Birds Rio for webOS Launches

Angry Birds Rio for webOS has gone live today. The game first launched on iOS and Android a couple of weeks back, and now is available for users of Palm/HP devices.

Angry Birds Rio for webOS comes with 60 levels across 2 episodes with more promised to arrive over the coming months. Rio is a little different to the other Angry Birds games in that it has more of a story line in which the original Angry Birds are kidnapped and taken to Rio de Janeiro. Verizon HTC Incredible 2 Press Shots Leaked

Some official press shots of the HTC Incredible 2 have been leaked. The device is similar to the Incredible S and is expected to launch towards the end of this and where it will arrive on the Verizon [VZ] network.

Success of iPad Causes Delays for BlackBerry PlayBook

Due to the success of the Apple iPad and the amount of devices it needs to fulfil orders, it seems to have caused a delay for the BlackBerry PlayBook to be launched. Digitimes is reporting that Apple took most of the available capacity which in turn, didn’t leave enough for a PlayBook launch.

Sources from touch screen panel makers also pointed out that PlayBook shipments were postponed for about a month from the original schedule due to a delay in software testing as well as shortage of touch panels because Apple already booked up most of the available capacity.

Android to Take 49% Share of Smartphone Market by 2012

Research company, Gartner, has been looking in to smartphone sales around the world to come up with some very interesting numbers.

The report first hints that smartphone sales will reach 468 million around the globe this year. This is a 57.7 percent increase on sales from last year. We also learn that Google Android could well be the leader in the smartphone market by the end of this year and in 2012, could command about 49% of the market. [Read more…]
