A company in Finland is working on a system that will print OLED’s in a roll to roll setup making it a lot cheaper to mass produce them. By printing this way the costs of OLED can be taken from 10’s of cents down to just cents in cost.
The technology may be used for adding sensors to foods and displaying the quality on the shelf of the product with in. Business cards may also be another application of this technology due to the printing costs being taken right down. The OLED sheets are about as thick as two or three sheets of paper making them fairly thin.
The creators have predicted that this quicker printing technique could see the general public using these smaller informational type displays in just a couple of years.
