Samsung has confirmed that it plans to support the Bada OS in the future in a big way. Right now, Bada is at version 1.2. Sometime next year the operating system will jump to version 2.0 and with that, a number of new features will be introduced.
Features we can expect in Bada 2.0 include multitasking, a new SDK, NFC (near field communications), revenue model support (operator billing and ads) as well as a number of other new features.
At the moment it isn’t known if Bada 2.0 will be for new devices only, or if older devices that currently run version 1.2 will be getting an update when 2.0 arrives. Hopefully the latter and that all Bada devices will get the update.
Another interesting point made by Samsung was that it plans to ship 10 million Samsung Wave devices in the first half of next year alone. Quite an impressive number! We’ll keep an eye on things to see how they go for Samsung.
