As you may have noticed, there’s a lot of smartphone announcements being made today. This is due to Mobile World Congress running this week.
The next device to be announced is the Samsung Galaxy S II. This particular smartphone has been rumored ever since the original Galaxy S launched last year. The main question is: How does it improve on the original model?
The general improvements are made all around. Samsung has switched out the Super AMOLED screen and instead, they have included a Super AMOLED Plus screen which now has a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and measures 4.27 pixels. The camera on the back is capable of capturing photos at 8 megapixels and the Galaxy 2 is also capable of capturing full HD video at 1080p.
A-GPS is included along with Bluetooth 3.0 and Wifi (a/b/g/n as expected). The processor is now dual-core and is clocked at 1GHz.
The operating system running on this smartphone will be Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
According to the press release:
“GALAXY S II is a natural and powerful evolution of GALAXY S. Building on the phenomenal success of the original Samsung GALAXY S, we are proud to unveil the ultimate smartphone. Consumers no longer have to contain themselves – the Samsung GALAXY S II allows them to design their own smart lives.”
Overall, it’s a Galaxy S smartphone with everything enhanced on it to make it a better experience than before. Release dates and pricing are not known just yet, but expect it to arrive in the next couple of months.
