Samsung has confirmed that a number of Galaxy smartphones will be getting the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update in 2012. The first two devices confirmed for the update in Q1 next year are the Galaxy S 2 and the Galaxy Note. Other devices will follow shortly after.
Those other devices include the Galaxy R, Galaxy S2 LTE and a range of Galaxy Tabs (10.1, 8.9, 7.7 and 7.0 Plus).
The main problem with the upgrades is that in a lot of cases it will depends on the various carriers around the world. As each carrier is left with the responsibility of the update, the timings could vary.
Samsung hasn’t made mention of the original Galaxy S smartphone which is bound to upset a few people. When we find out a more rigid timetable for updates, we’ll post all the necessary details.
