The Samsung Galaxy S II is now beginning to get the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update although the update isn’t official. This particular update comes from SamMobile who managed to get hold of an alpha build of Ice Cream Sandwich. As it’s Alpha, it’s a little buggy still although you do get a sense of what ICS will run and look like on the SGS2.
The update is only available for international versions of the Galaxy S II which means the US rebranded models cannot get the alpha update. Also take in to consideration that with it being alpha, there’s still a number of bugs present. If you use your Galaxy S II as your main phone (which most of you will do) then it would be worth waiting a little longer for Ice Cream Sandwich. The official release date for Android 4.0 on this device is sometime in the 1Q of 2012 which could take it to the end of March.
The embedded video below shows roughly 1 minute of ICS on the Galaxy S2.
