Although I mentioned recently that Samsung seems to have kept the Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S III secure and safe, I was wrong. The ROM has now leaked out on to the web with a demonstration of it showing in the video below.
The ROM is believed to be an official unreleased ROM. The version is Android 4.1.1 and is built for the I9300 device.
Although the ROM is believed to be official, it isn’t clear how old this particular build is. It could be an early beta build that Samsung worked on rather than an up to date and almost final version that will release in the next few weeks.
What can be seen in the video is a demonstration of Jelly Bean and the new things it brings to the S3. That includes a new version of TouchWiz along with an improved notification area. This looks to include what is known as Project Butter which means that scrolling is a lot smoother bringing the frame rate up to a constant 60FPS under animations etc… Again, with this possibly being an early beta build the scrolling could get better still as some comments on the video indicate that it isn’t included. Either way, it looks rather quick so perhaps we can expect even more speed from the SIII when the official Jelly Bean update is released. The expected date for that is August 29.
