Cool Looking Laser Clock

laser clock
When laser pens started becoming popular several years ago they were the thing to have. I remember getting one for 3 quid in Paris and it could project different shapes on to the wall depending what tiny lens was screwed on to the end of it. Now they have just introduced the Laser Clock which projects the actual time on to any surface. I have to admit that I do not know if its actually a laser clock, or just a bright red LED… either way its kind of cool.

You can pick one of the Laser Clocks up from Dynamism for $29.99.

Font Clock

Font Clock

21st Century 24 Hour Clock

The Font Clock has 12 different font with which it can tell the time. The inside mechanisms are set to display random, mixed up displays of time in different fonts. I wonder if they have windings in there… that would make for a cool excuse why you were late for work (not being able to tell the time).

Three sizes of the clock are available which are the G270 which measures 47.6 x 16.2 x 56.6 CM and this one displays the time, date and day of the week. The next size is the G225 which is slightly smaller measuring 42.2 x 11.8 x 31.8 CM and shows just the time and date. The smallest clock is the G100 which measures 29 x 11 x 14 CM and displays the time only.

Costing a hefty 810 GBP (about $1600) for the large version, I think I will be giving this one a miss. The clocks are available from thorstenvanelten.

Puzzle Alarm Clock

Jigsaw Alarm

Solve a puzzle to stop the alarm going

Waking up is tough, but with a Jigsaw alarm clock you need to solve the jigsaw before the alarm will stop. To make it harder, the second the alarm sounds the jigsaw pieces are shot in the air across the bedroom. Your task is to then find them and then solve the puzzle which will then shut the alarm clock up.

I have to say that this is one of the most creative ways of getting someone out of bed, besides the cold water way.

Serious Overclocking by ABIT

cpu-cooled-with-liquid-nitrogen
If you are not sure what over clocking is then it is speeding up your computer beyond the speed it was designed to run at. For example you could run a 2.4Ghz processor at a higher speed and thus, making your computer run quicker and games run smoother. However, when this happens the processor gets seriously hot and some good cooling is needed to perform over clocking. Depending on how cool you can keep the processor and RAM depends on the outcome. ABIT decided at Computex which was held recently, to over clock one of their processors from 2.93GHz up to 5GHz. That is a HUGE jump and no doubt, will probably burn out the processor with in seconds. But, ABIT had some liquid nitrogen to hand which is ultra cold. Strapping this to the processor they were able to work the processor for a while with out any signs of it over heating.

Now it isnt the greatest over clocking that has happened, but its still quite cool as I have not seen a processor cooled with liquid nitrogen before.

RiteAlarm Clock Review

RiteAlarm Clock
From Rayna Creations comes this compact triple weekly, battery powered, alarm clock. What it means by triple weekly is that you have the option of pre setting the alarm clock for weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays individually. With your average alarm clock you need to manually adjust the alarm setting each time your routine changes, this beauty avoids such annoyance. For me on a personal level I am known to forget to change the settings and either wake the household up, or arrive late for appointments. On the outset it is quite basic looking, but what more do you need? If you are just looking for something that will do its job then this really does suit your needs every day of the week. The rest of the review is after the jump.

Pocket Laser Clock

Time Laser
I remember the first laser pen I got. I had a good laugh with it pointing it on the street and putting a small red dot on the ground in front of someone to confuse them. A few years later I was in Paris and was sold one at the bottom of the Eiffel Tower for 3 pounds. This has attachments on the end so that an Eiffel tower was projected on to the surface it was pointing at as well as others. What we have here is not just a static dot or image, but a clock that is projected by a laser on to any surface. Its an odd way to tell the time, but still kind of funky in a way. As well as being a 650nm red laser clock pen it also functions as a regular blank ink pen.

Clocky Robotic Alarm

Clocky Robotic Alarm
I came across this cool alarm clock today from ThinkGeek which adds a different level on to the average alarm clock that you use. The Clocky Robotic alarm is a small alarm clock with 2 wheels on it. It started as an engineering student project and has now been produced. The wheels on the alarm clock propel it off your table and on to the floor. To switch it off you need to catch up with it. The one problem is that it turns and twists out of your way. This is surely going to get you out of bed unless you can fall back asleep and still ignore it. The chances are that most people will want it to shut up, and the only way to do that is to catch it and hit snooze.

An Alarm clock that WILL get me out of bed

Snuzluz
I hate waking up in the morning. I hit snooze all the time until the alarm finally stops going. I wish it was a habit I could break. Well, today I think I found the answer. The SnuzNLuz alarm clock uses wifi connectivity along with your bank account log in details in which it can use to donate your money to an organisation you hate every time you push snooze. Now we are talking! I hate to see money leave my account and this looks perfect for me. The name of the device aptly reflects the saying – If you snooze you lose. Well, you actually will with this clock.

Sonic Bomb Alarm Clock with Bed Shaker

Sonic Bomb Alarm Clock
If you are a heavy sleeper then the Sonic Bomb Alarm clock is for you. The clock features an adjustable volume alarm which can shout out at 113 decibels. Like me, you are now wondering what that means. Basically a jackhammer is about 100 decibels. I hope that puts it in to perspective for you. Not only is the sonic bomb a noisy clock, it is actually a shaking clock by the way of a bed shaker which you put under your matress. Having this ultra mean combination of noises and vibrations there is no doubt that this would wake up the heaviest of sleepers.

The Sonic Bomb is available from ThinkGeek for $39.99

Flying Alarm Clock

Flying Alarm Clock
The Flying Alarm Clock is a genius device which makes getting out of bed pretty much mandatory. Getting out of bed is hard! I hate it myself. If you get the flying alarm clock then it will not shut up until you push the propellor back in to the top of it. The catch is that the propellor flys away to who knows where, and you have to find it to shut the thing up. Excellent idea… well maybe I best keep it quiet from my wife or I might find one under the tree for christmas. But… the idea is ingenious.

Buy it now from Firebox for just 19.95

Remember, this is a great christmas present for those lazy bones who will just not get out of bed in the morning!

Batman Projection Alarm Clock

Batman Projection Clock
Projection clocks are kind of funky. They project the time on to the roof as you lay back in bed and think “wow thats cool”. Along comes the Batman projection clock which now projects the bat signal on to your ceiling. Just make sure you remind yourself that you are not batman and you do not need to jump up and get dressed every time the signal hits the ceiling.

The clock is powered by a AA battery and also has a moulded figure of batman him self to keep you safe.
