The LG LAN-9600R is an excellent peice of kit for your car. It looks similar to the Alpine motorised in dash screens, and has some great built in goodies. The screen is 7 inch and touch screen too. Built in is also a Bluetooth kit, 300Mhz processor, SiRF Star III GPS receiver, 2Gb storage with a USB connector to transfer music from your USB flash drive to the system. It also has an SD memory slot to also allow copying of giles. The DVD player built in will play most video formats.

The player costs around 2000 dollars and would make an excellent addition to those who are looking for this type of kit for their car.

Loosing a USB flash drive can be seriously annoying and dangerous if you have sensative information on there. Well… this new bowling ball USB drive will not have a chance of being lost because it’s a full sized bowling ball and weighs 16lbs. Unfortunatly it now takes it out of the ultra portable and also out of the carry it around on a regular basis type thing. Still all good though.

The bowling ball is not available to buy as it was custom made by someone who didnt want to loose another USB flash drive.

SanDisk Cruzer Titanium

SanDisk have created the Cruzer Titanium 2Gb USB flash drive. It is built with a liquidmetal casing and is pracivally indestructible. To prove this, someone placed it under his car to see how it with held to that amount of pressure on it 🙂

Acer Iconia Dual-Screen Touchbook Shipping April

After a few months of seeing pictures of the Acer Iconia, we now hear it’s actually going to be shipping in the next few weeks.

The Iconia is a dual-screen Touchbook that allows users to work with two 14 inch touchscreens. When opened like a laptop, a virtual keyboard can be set on the lower screen while a regular OS running on the top screen.

The technical specs reveal that the device runs an Intel Core i5 chip. The operating system is Windows 7 and the screens are covered in Gorilla glass to make it extra strong. [Read more…]

Take A Look Inside the iPad 2

The iPad 2 went on sale yesterday in the US and as usual, iFixit was able to grab one and take it apart to see what the inside of it looks like. There are a number of notable differences in the internal design such as the way the glass is held on and how the insides are organized.

Due to the tapered edges, the iPad 2 screen is held on with plenty of glue. The previous model was held on by tabs. Removing the screen is made quite difficult on the new model due to the amounts of glue used. [Read more…]

Kinect Hacked to Act Like Minority Report UI

The Microsoft Kinect has been used to create a Minority Report style computer interface. The hack was achieved by students at MIT who managed to use Kinect drivers for Linux and make a program that can detect all 10 fingers on your hands as well as the palms of your hands. [Read more…]

Viewsonic ViewPad 7 & 10 Release Dates Revealed

ViewSonic has released details of the US launch of the ViewPad 7 and 10 models. ViewSonic confirmed that the 7 inch model will launch in the forth quarter of this year with a price tag of $479 while the larger 10 inch model will arrive early next year with a price tag of $629.

Each of the ViewSonic tablets is slightly different. The larger of the two devices is actually a dual booting machine that runs both Windows 7 Home Premium and Google Android 1.6. When switching it on you get to choose which OS boots up. For times when you quickly need to check email, you can boot in to Android and quickly grab those. MacBook Air Gets Benchmarked

The guys over at MacWorld have been busy benchmarking the new range of MacBook Air laptops that Apple [AAPL] announced last week. The new models come with faster processors and SSD drives that help increase performance.

MacWorld tested the 11 inch 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo model with both the 64GB and 128GB SSD and also tested the 13 inch 1.86GHz models with the 128GB and 256GB SSDs inside. [Read more…]

Apple TV Teardown

The next generation (2nd gen) Apple TV started shipping in the last few days. iFixit of course, managed to get it’s hands on one and has already taken it apart to see what exactly goes on inside.

The new Apple TV is far smaller than the original version that launched a few years ago. It runs iOS and is based around streaming content rather than storing content locally on internal memory.

Interesting information found about the Apple TV when tearing it down reveal that it has 256MB RAM just like the new iPod touch and iPad. The device also uses the same A4 processor package as is found in the iPad. [Read more…]

Archos 10 Inch Android Tablet – $300

Archos is releasing a 10.1 inch Android OS based tablet. The 10.1 inch tablet joins a few other tables ranging from a 2.8 inch screen size up to the larger 10.1 inch screen.

The 10.1 inch Archos tablet is the one designed to tackle the iPad. Spec wise, it has a 16:9 aspect ratio screen, a metal frame to make it rigid, runs Android 2.2 Froyo and gives access to 5,000 apps in the market.

Memory capacity for the $300 model is 8GB while the larger capacity 16GB model will cost $350 when launched. [Read more…]

Motorola MILESTONE 2 to Arrive in Europe

Motorola has announced that the DROID 2 will be heading to Europe as the Motorola MILESTONE 2, like the Motorola DEFY, it will also be “enhanced” with MOTOBLUR. Unfortunately.

The MILESTONE 2 will launch with Android 2.2 installed which also allows for Adobe Flash 10.1 to be run in the browser. The CPU on the MILESTONE 2 is 1GHz and the device features the same slide out keyboard as the DROID 2. Essentially, it’s the same phone but branded slightly different for whatever reason.

Features of the Motorola MILESTONE 2 include the 3G mobile hotspot capabilities that allows for up to five wireless devices to connect up and share the 3G connection. [Read more…]
