3 USB Modem Review – First Impressions

When 3MobileBuzz contacted me a couple of weeks back and offered a 3 USB Modem for review, I jumped at the chance. A USB modem has been on my list of things to buy for a few months now, although I have always held back being unsure how good they actually are and how much data will I actually eat through each month. Now that I have my 3 USB Modem I can happily test this… for 3 whole months. [Read more…]

USB Memory Bomb

usb_memory_bombThe USB Memory Bomb isn’t the most convenient of shapes and might not fit too well in your wallet or pocket, but it certain to get a few people looking at it on your desk.

The Memory Bomb is designed by Joel Escalona from Mexico City and looks quite menacing in a cartoon type of way. Currently it is just a prototype and will probably feature a way to put your flash drive inside it or have the possibility to squeeze a hard drive in there.

If the price is right I can see my desk having one of these placed on it.

Mini USB Digital Camera with no LCD

USB-Digital-Camera
This concept mini digital camera tries to take photography back a few years, but bring it to now at the same time. It is a small USB flash drive with a camera built in and it just has 1 button. There is no LCD on the back and there is no view finder. The whole purpose of the camera is to just have you point, shoot and then have to wait till you are back at your PC to see the results which is just like the waiting time to get pictures developed.

It’s not the best idea I have come across, but I can see it as doing quite well should it become available. If the cameras are cheap enough (< $10) then they would make ideal little cameras to take around while out and about so you can snap away, but not worry about it getting damaged. USB Mix Tapes

USB Mix Tape
Many of you will remember the good old cassette tape. It allowed many people to create their own little mixes of either 60 or 90 minutes to play in their walkman or in a car. The USB Mix Tape is a mixture of the old fashioned cassette with it’s paper cover but inside it sports a small USB flash drive which contains your music. The USB flash drive inside can store 64MB of music on to it. To record on to it, stick the USB flash drive in to your PC, drag and drop all your tunes on to it, and then put the flash memory back in to it’s case. You can even write all your track listings on to the paper insert to remind you of the early 90’s.

USB Plasma Ball

USB Plasma Ball
The Plasma ball has been around for years. They used to cost an arm and a leg if I remember correctly and then they dropped in price quite a bit. For those who need their plasma ball fix you can now get a USB version which works just like a regular plasma ball that is plugged in. The USB port can provide sufficient power to light up the gasses inside and create a dazzling display of plasma type stuff.

The USB plasma ball stands about 6 inches tall and can be switched on and off by either unplugging it or by the switch located on the base. All we need now is the USB Plasma Ball Flash Drive with cosmic data fragments floating around inside.

USB MicroSD Reader

USB_microSD
Kingston Technology have created a USB MicroSD card reader which allows easier transfer of files between a mobile phone and PC. The MicroSD card slots in to the flash drive which in turn, plugs in to the USB port on your PC. It measures 32.89 x 15.3 x 7.66 mm and can read 13MB/Second and write 3.5MB/Second. It is a USB 2.0 compliant device which allows for higher speeds. However, it is compatible with USB 1.1 just in case you are behind with the times on your PC. Unfortunatly for those who use Vista, this device is not ReadyBoost compatible.

Included with the MicroSD reader is either a 1GB microSD or 2GB microSD card. The 1GB version costs around $20 with the 2GB version costing around the $37 mark.
