Dell Venue Android 2.2 Launching in Korea This Month

The Dell Venue is the Android version of the Dell Venue Pro (Windows Phone 7 device).

HTC to Focus on Android while Watching Tablet Market

HTC VP Jack Tong has recently spoken about the company plans for smartphones and tablets. In regards to tablets, right now they are watching the competition and are thinking of entering the market. When speaking of the iPad he believes that sales of those tables have affected laptops/desktops more than they have smartphones.

In regards to plans for smartphones, HTC is currently sticking to Google Android as its main choice although they are evaluating more of localised versions of Windows Phone 7. [Read more…]

Dell Venue Pro Now Available to Order

Dell is now taking orders for the Dell Venue Pro. The Dell Venue Pro is a Windows Phone 7 smartphone that has been well sought after, and finally it looks to be here.. again. It was originally pulled due to some problems with WiFi and mislabeled batteries.

The phone costs $99.99 when signing up for a two year contract. Off contract, it’s priced at $449.99 ($499 for the 16GB model).

A larger 16GB model is available for an extra $50 taking the price up to $149. [Read more…]

WP7 Handyscan App Personal Document Scanner

Handyscan is an app for the Windows Phone 7 operating system. What it does is allows you to capture pictures of documents and store them as JPG or PDF files on your smartphone. Once captured and stored, you can then use email to send the docs to your email address.

The Handyscan software allows you to scan multiple pages per document and it also gives you the ability to rotate and crop images after taking them. [Read more…]

Dell Venue Pro WP7 MicroSD Card Slot – Covered by Warranty Sticker

WMPoweruser has spotted the microSD card slot on the Dell Venue Pro Windows Phone 7 smartphone. Unlike some other WP7 devices where the card slot is buried deep within the hardware, Dell has made the microSD card slot some what accessible when only taking the back cover off.

However, there is a snag here in that the microSD card slot is actually covered by a warranty sticker. Basically, that means that if you decide to mess with the microSD card slot and increase the memory capacity of the device, you’ll end up voiding your warranty on the phone. [Read more…]

Dell Offers Staff Free Dell Venue Pro In Exchange for Blackberrys

Dell is handing out up to 25,000 Dell Venue Pro Windows Phone 7 smartphones to employees who hand in their Blackberry for the new device. As well as offering phones to staff, Dell is also offering a service that will help clients make the switch from Blackberry to WP7.

Although the cost of 25,000 Dell Venue Pro smartphones isn’t cheap, the company will actually save around 25% of phone costs due to paying contracts for Blackberry devices as well as handset costs. [Read more…]

HTC HD7 microSD Replacement Possible

When Microsoft [MSFT] announced Windows Phone 7, we heard at the time that the storage memory would be located inside the device and would not be replaceable. This has turned out to be true in some cases, but some devices like the HTC HD7 use a microSD card internally. This prompted the:unwired to test and see if the HTC HD7 would accept a different memory card.

What the team did was take out the original Class 2 8GB microSD card and replace it with a class 6 microSD card of the same capacity. After a bit of trouble and a few hard resets, the new and faster memory card actually worked as it should and still does without any problems. [Read more…]

HTC HD7 Release Date – November 8 in US

The HTC HD7 release date in the US on T-Mobile will be November 8. When the phone launches it will have a price tag of $199.99 although if you get it from AmazonWireless you’ll get it $30 cheaper for $169.99.

It isn’t known at the moment who will ship the HTC HD7 the quickest, so although you might save $30 at AmazonWireless, you might end up waiting a day or two longer. For some, they would rather pay the extra to get it quicker. [Read more…]

Samsung Omnia 7 Gets HD Voice on Orange

The Samsung Omnia 7 is a Windows Phone 7 smartphone launching in the next few days here in the UK. If you decide to get the device on the Orange network, you’ll actually get HD Voice enabled on the device.

Best Buy in the US has listed the price of the HTC 7 Surround at $549.99 unsubsidized. The HTC 7 Surround is a new Windows Phone 7 device that will begin shipping, with other new smartphones, on November 8th in the US.
