HTC HD2 on T-Mobile Sells Well on First Day

Just a couple of days ago the T-Mobile HTC HD2 went on sale. Following on from the previous day’s announcement of the HTC EVO 4G we expected sales to suffer a little, but if the rumours are true then the HTC HD2 is still selling well.

We are hearing that around 21,700 units were sold via retail and employee sales. It isn’t clear if the numbers represent online sales. If not then the number will increase quite a bit.

It’s not bad despite a few kicks in the teeth that it’s had recently with the HTC EVO 4G announcement and the whole Windows Phone 7 Series thing where Microsoft [MSFT] confirmed the HD2 was not going to get the new OS. Either way, it all seems to have worked out well for T-Mobile. [Read more…]

HTC HD2 on Amazon for $99.99 on Contract

Amazon have a good deal on the HTC HD2 at the moment offering quite a large discount on the handset when signing up for a contract with T-Mobile.

The phone as mentioned several times before comes to T-Mobile quite late in the game with other providers already selling it for several months, but due to it’s 4.3 inch capacitive touchscreen and fast 1GHz Snapdragon processor it’s still quite a desired smartphone. [Read more…]

HTC HD2 Now Available – Bad Timing Considering HTC EVO 4G Announcement

The HTC HD2 is now available to buy (officially) on the T-Mobile network in the US. Considering yesterdays announcement of the HTC EVO 4G phone yesterday I don’t think T-Mobile could have planned it any worse. That aside, the HD2 is still a nice phone and on the T-Mobile network it has a number of features such as connectivity to Blockbuster and other channels bundled in.

The HD2 is a Window Mobile 6.5 device that unfortunately won’t be getting updated with Windows Phone 7 Series due to it lacking in certain areas in regards to the criteria set forwards by Microsoft [MSFT] in what hardware specifications are required to run the new OS.

Early reviews of the HD2 on T-Mobile (when it was sold early) indicate that the screen is very nice and better than the iPhone due to it’s sheer size and how clear it is. [Read more…]

T-Mobile HTC HD2 Confirmed for March 24 – $200

T-Mobile have confirmed the launch date and price for the HTC HD2 on their network. The HTC HD2 will be launched March 24 and will cost $199.99.

The release date and phone price were already known from unofficial sources, but T-Mobile have actually confirmed this themselves. The $199.99 price is for a contract version of the phone. An off contract version is also available that will cost $450.

The HTC HD2 on the T-Mobile networks brings a few unique features making it slightly different from other versions of the HD2. Out of the box you get access to Blockbuster video on demand. The memory card has a couple of Transformers movies pre-loaded and access to a number of channels including MTV, NBC and a few others. [Read more…]

HTC Touch Pro3 Coming in Summer?

There seems to be a few HTC rumours around this week with the latest one being that HTC are working on the HTC Touch Pro3 with a tentative launch date of this summer.

The rumoured information comes from the XDA Developers forums where the information says the device will be smaller and slimmer than the Touch Pro2 (pictured above).

Other than that there is no other information other than it could possibly run Windows Phone 7 Series (assuming it meets the criteria). [Read more…]

HTC HD2 Event on T-Mobile Scheduled for March 16

We expected the T-Mobile variant of the HTC HD2 to arrive this month after numerous leaks and a press release over the last few months.

So, is it arriving this month? Probably as we have now heard that a press event is being held on March 16 over in New York to unveil the phone which has a rumoured release date of March 24.

The information just posted above is all we have right now in that we know there is an event happening. The March 24 date is a previous rumour that was posted due to some leaks found. [Read more…]

Microsoft Courier Details Arrive

Quite a while back we wrote about a new tablet type device called the Microsoft Courier. The Courier is a dual screen device that opens like a book and works mainly with pen input to organise and keep track of your life. After the initial renderings and video it all went quiet. Engadget managed to get some more details today that give is a little more insight as to what it is and when it will become available.

From what we hear, Microsoft [MSFT] will be creating the device to function as a digital journal primarily. The device is going to be portable measuring about the size of a 5×7 photo frame and measuring under 1 inch thick when closed while weighing just over 1 pound. [Read more…]

Microsoft Real-Time Voice Translator

Microsoft [MSFT] research is working on a project that automatically translates languages by listening to a voice. The demo shown on video over at Giz shows a German researcher at Microsoft speaking in German with the software translating it to English and speaking with a voice.

As will be seen in the video, the translations are a little clunky, but still functional. The system is based around the Bing translation service, so you get almost what you’d get if you were to type the text in to a computer.

Uses for such a system could be to automatically translate conference calls for business, or perhaps translate for anyone wanting to communicate with someone in another language. If Microsoft were to embed this in to their Windows Phone software it could be a very handy feature should you need to talk to someone speaking a different language. Obviously there are a few more obstacles to clear before this could actually happen, but the video does give a glimpse of what could be a few years down the road in terms of translation services. Palm webOS to hit T-Mobile

BGR received some interesting information to their inbox recently from a “solid Palm connect” that mentioned T-Mobile was in it’s final stages of planning their webOS device launch with Palm.

If the source is to be believed then T-Mobile will launch is similar to the Palm Pixi. Notice I said similar to the Palm Pixi, meaning it sounds like some modifications or a slightly different phone will be launched. [Read more…]

HTC HD Mini Announced

The HTC HD Mini was announced at MWC today and is a Windows Mobile 6.5.3 device that has a 3.2 inch HVGA screen.

The phone it’s self is described as being a scaled down version of the larger HTC HD2 but with a smaller screen and more capable of being carried around.

The HTC HD Mini seems to focus more on design as the promo video below shows emphasis on design features which oddly enough, seem to revolve around the 4 screws that hold the phone together as well as having bright yellow innards for some reason. [Read more…]

HTC HD2 Getting Ready for Launch on T-Mobile?

T-Mobile in the US posted a brief message on Twitter relating to the HTC HD2. The message says… ‘Think you know the HTC HD2? Guess again¦ Stay tuned for more next week.

Although it doesn’t give anything away it certainly indicates something is happening with the HD2 on their network which we have been waiting for recently.

The HTC HD2 is believed to be launching on the network sometime in March, but perhaps this cryptic message means they will be launching it early. [Read more…]
