Rovio to Add Angry Birds Sync Tool to Popular Game

Angry Birds has been downloaded millions of times, up near 100 million times to be exact. One problem that has always existed with the game is that when you play it on more than 1 device, you need to start the game from the start. For example, you complete 3 worlds on the iPhone version, get a new iPad, download the game and you have to start right from the beginning on your iPad.

This can be frustrating for those avid and casual gamers who want to continue on from where they left off. Thanks to a tweet sent out by Rovio, it seems that a way to sync games might be introduced within the next few months. The system will be called Angry Birds Sync and from what we can gather, it’ll allow you to to sync your progress among a number of platforms so that when you load it up on the iPad, you play from where you left off on your iPhone.

Could ASUS Ship a $200 Netbook? Perhaps with the Help of Google!

Although it has never succeeded in getting prices down to $200, we now hear that ASUS are yet again attempting to get the netbook down to the $200 to $250 price point.

ASUS is attempting to drop the price due to competition from the new generation tablets such as the Galaxy Tab, iPad and Motorola Xoom to name a few. Since the launch of the iPad, netbook sales have slowly dropped as people seem to prefer the mobile phone type operating system on a 7 to 10 inch screen for “lazy time browsing”. By pricing a netbook at $200 to $250, it would position the 10 inch netbook at just below the price of regular tablets and in doing this, could help boost sales so that the company hits its 6 million goal this year. Android Devices Can be Used as Second Monitor with iDisplay

iDisplay has been launched for Android OS based devices. What it does is allow you to use your Android smartphone or tablet as a secondary display for your computer. Once installed and connected, you can then drag windows on to the smaller screen such as a Skype conversation or perhaps a media player you want to be able to see but not clutter up your main screen.

To get it to work, you need to first download the app on your Android device and once installed, you then need to install some software on your Mac or Windows computer so that your Android smartphone/tablet can hook up and get the data it needs. [Read more…]

Dell Streak 10 Will Run Android 3.0 Honeycomb At Launch

Dell has confirmed that when the Dell Streak 10 tablet launches, it will run the Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system. What we also learn is that Dell intend to use a degree of the same hardware that will also run a Windows OS.

For tablets, it’s Android Honeycomb and Windows, and we have customers with a preference for either one. We can create platforms that share a great degree of hardware commonality that can run both — or either — operating system, and we don’t see any other options that are worthy of consideration.

iOS 4.2.1 Jailbreak Update to iTunes 10.1 Recommended

Yesterday, the iPhone Dev Team released the iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak in the form of Redsn0w 0.9.6b4. Since its launch a few problems have been noticed while running the tool. The Dev Team now recommends that an update to iTunes 10.1 is best and for those running the tool on Windows 7, it’s recommended that you run the app in XP compatibility mode.

Also, there seems to be some who are unsure what a tethered boot is. For those running newer hardware on iOS 4.2.1, when you jailbreak it will require a tethered boot for now. This means that every time your iPhone reboots (ie the battery dies or it crashes), you’ll need to be next to a computer and re-run redsn0w to boot your device. [Read more…]

iOS 4.2.1 Jailbreak Downloads Now Ready

It is now possible to Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 thanks to the latest Redsn0w update that launched a few hours ago. This jailbreak comes with a warning or 2 though such as recommending you jailbreak iOS 4.1 first so that you save SHSH before updating. This is quite a stern warning saying it will be needed in the future. Hopefully you didn’t rush and update to 4.2.1 just yet.

Also a warning that unlockers should stay on iOS 4.1 is given on the iPhone Dev Team website as the current baseband on 4.2.1 cannot be unlocked just yet.

As for the iOS unlock, the Dev Team suggest that an unlock will be available for the 3G and 3GS by the end of the week. [Read more…]

Netflix for Android Could Arrive in 2011

Netflix is already available on the iPhone and other iOS based devices as well as Windows and a number of consoles. We now hear that Netflix will continue to grow by being made available on Android based smartphones sometime in 2011.

From what we understand, Netflix will not arrive on all Android devices and will more than likely be limited by the OS version and hardware meaning that only newer handsets get it (in the beginning that is). [Read more…]

Steve Jobs Says AirPrint Has Not Been Pulled

In the past few days some details/rumours about AirPrint support in iOS 4.2 being partially pulled went around the Internet. The original rumours hinted at AirPrint not supporting printers shared on a Mac or Windows computer which left many reporting that only five current printers from HP would actually be compatible with the service. One upset user of MacRumors emailed Steve Jobs to see what was going on…

Q: As a release-day purchaser of an iPad, I was elated when you revealed iOS 4.2 would support AirPrint. Now comes reports AirPrint support has been pulled from 4.2. Between announcements/assurances of the white iPhone, and now the pulling of AirPrint, is Apple going to lose credibility and become known for announcing “vaporware”?

A: AirPrint has not been pulled. Don’t believe everything you read.

Redsn0w iOS 4.1 Jailbreak Now Available

The Redsn0w jailbreak for iOS 4.1 has been released. This particular iOS 4.1 jailbreak is compatible with iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, Apple TV (second gen), iPad and iPod touch.

It looks like geohot’s recent limera1n exploit for iPhone3GS/iPhone4/iPad/ipt3g/ipt4g/atv2g will be very beneficial to jailbreakers and unlockers for the next few months (at least). geohot’s limera1n program and the alternative greenpois1on program both use his same exploit (although greenpois0n refuses to tell you that, FWIW), and hopefully SHAtter can be saved for some later device.
