Sony have announced a new camera in the Alpha range called the Sony A450. The A450 DSLR is a cut down version of the A500 in some ways in that it has a 14.2 megapixel CMOS sensor (same as the A500) but lacks fast-AF live view and lacks the tilting/swivelling screen.
The screen it’s self measures 2.6 inches making it relatively small also. By cutting screen size down and removing some of the features the battery life has been improved allowing it to capture over 1000 shots on a single charge.
The camera is kind of a confusing one according to DPReview as it has features of the A230 with a larger battery life making the lower range of cameras quite complicated in that they all vary by just a few features.
Sony Alpha A450 DSLR Features
* 14.2 effective megapixels Exmor¢ CMOS sensor
* Up to 7 fps continuous shooting
* Manual Focus Check Live View
* Auto HDR
* 1,050 shot battery stamina (CIPA measurement)
* SteadyShot INSIDE
Sony themselves describe the A450 as the perfect all-rounder. We’ll have more details when the reviews start showing up for the camera. The price isn’t officially known yet although we have heard it will be launched early next month in February.

Sony USA has not announced the a450 … so far, at least.
And Sony Canada says they will NOT be marketing the a450.
Perhaps it’s only for other countries.
