Sony Ericsson has announced a new smartphone called the Xperia Arc. The smartphone will run the Google Android operating system when launched, and surprisingly it will be Android 2.3 rather than the older versions that SE commonly chooses.
Features include a 4.2 inch touchscreen (multitouch) along with an 8.1 megapixel camera. The sensor in the camera is an Exmor R sensor that is capable of capturing video at a resolution of up to 720p.
Powering the Xperia Arc will be a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Memory wise, it will have 512MB RAM and will also come loaded with an 8GB microSD card that can be upgraded if desired.
For connectivity it has 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth along with a micro HDMI output port for those wanting to connect it up to a HDTV.
No pricing details are known just yet and the release date is set sometime towards the end of this quarter or beginning of Q2.
