Just a few days ago, Sony announced two new digital cameras called the Sony NEX-3 and the Sony NEX-5. We are now hearing that another higher spec model called the Sony NEX-7 is being launched later this year that will have full HD recording abilities being able to capture at 1080p.
This information comes from a website who managed to successfully predict the NEX-3 and NEX-5 which indicates they have a source close to the situation.
It is expected that the NEX-7 will use an APS-C chip a little different to what the NEX-3/5 currently uses. We also hear that slow motion video will be capable of being captured in 720p at 120 frames per second. As for 1080p, it is expected that a frame rate of 60fps will be achieved.
The new NEX-7 is said to have a larger body than the smaller NEX-5 due to the extra technology squashed in to the casing.
We are not sure when the Sony NEX-7 will arrive other than hearing later this year. We suspect that pricing will put it higher than both the NEX-3 and NEX-5 although by the time it launches, we might see a small drop in prices across the range anyway. This however is not a prediction, but just a thought.
