Sony has made official the Sony PSP 2. The new device is currently codenamed NGP which means Next Generation Portable. The new portable games machine revolves around five key concepts from what Engadget report…
Revolutionary User Interface, Social Connectivity, Location-based Entertainment, Converging Real and Virtual (augmented) Reality.
The PSP 2 is compatible with downloadable PSP games and is also compatible with the PlayStation Suite. Inside is where things get impressive.
The device has a 5 inch OLED touchscreen that can display 960 x 544 pixels. Powering the device is a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor. It has dual analog sticks (not nubs). For connectivity, it has 3G, WiFi and GPS built in. On the back is a rear mounted touchpad.
Other features include an accelerometer, gyroscope as well as a compass. Two cameras are also included with one on the front and the other on the back.
Downside of all this fancy next gen portable machine is that you’ll need to wait till the holiday season to pick one up.
Sony has not confirmed how games will be loaded up other than saying it is new media. They have dropped UMD format, so it isn’t clear if media will be used or if content will be downloadable. We suspect it will be physical media due to the sheer size of games.
We expect pricing will be revealed later on this year. More videos at Engadget.
Can’t wait to try it.
That’s Nice!!!!!!!!!!
