Swype has been available for a number of months for Android smartphones although it was restricted to which devices could run it.
As of today, Swype for Android is now available to download and allows anyone with “almost” any Android smartphone install the virtual keyboard.
For those who are not aware of what Swype is, it’s basically a virtual keyboard that rather than tapping at like other virtual keyboards, you just swype your fingers over the letters you want to spell a word. When done right, you can quickly swype around the letters “hello” for example, without lifting your finger off the screen. This makes text entry quicker in some cases as well as being accurate.
