If you search around your loft or basement for long enough, you’ll probably come across some old slides and negatives from pictures you took before digital cameras took off. These pictures often get damaged over time and if left out in sunlight, they also fade away gradually and lose colour.
The “Superior Slide and Negative to Digital Picture Converter” is a device that is able to capture images from negatives and slides at a resolution of 14 megapixels.
The tray under the camera portion is able to hold regular 135mm slides or negatives in 110, 126 and 135. Capturing an image takes 3 – 5 seconds. The unit works on its own and doesn’t require that you tether it to a PC while capturing images from your slides. It stores JPEG images on an SDHC memory card with a capacity of up to 32GB although it appears that you need to supply the memory card. After storing the images you can either put the memory card in your computer and copy the images over, or you can connect up the device to a computer with a USB cable and copy over that way.
Price wise, it costs $149.95 and is available now for shipping from Hammacher in the US.
