Three is launching a new MiFi model called the Huawei E586. The new device is the first from the company that utilizes HSPA+ mobile broadband technology.
This new MiFi model is around 40% faster than previous generations of the device. This allows connections of up to 21.1Mbps on the Three network although right now not all of the network has the technology to function at that speed. Three is aiming to have 80% of its UK network upgraded by the end of this year.
The E586 MiFi has an OLED screen providing details of how much data has been used by a connection. Also access to the MiFi wifi service can be accessed by the push of a button.
“As the UK’s biggest 3G mobile broadband network, we’re delighted to introduce our high speed mobile Wi-Fi product. This joins our award winning HSPA+ dongles making us the only operator offering an entirely next generation HSPA+ enabled range of mobile broadband products. Aside from this step up in speed, the new cradle charger, which looks great, will help people get the best performance in the home.”
The new MiFi is launching in September and comes supplied with a charging cradle. Download speeds can hit a maximum of 21.1 Mbps in optimal conditions with uploads reaching 5.76 Mbps. Battery life is about 4.5 hours per charge. An SD card slot is also available in the MiFi which accepts up to a 32GB card.
