Three will be getting the newly announced Samsung Galaxy W next month. Details of the smartphone are listed on the Coming Soon page over on the Three website.
Three is the first network in the UK who has confirmed the devices arrival for next month. What we see in the specs is that it has a 1.4GHz processor and runs the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. On the back is a 5 megapixel camera. For storage it has 4GB built in. The screen measures 3.7 inches and is a WVGA Super-LCD touchscreen.
The Galaxy W is one of the first phones to use Samsungs new Galaxy naming scheme. The naming for the Galaxy range will fall under 1 of 5 letters which are:
S for Super Smart, R for Royal or Redefined, W for Wonder, M for Magical and Y for Young. The full list and explanation of each device can be found below: Source
S (Super Smart) – obviously, as the already-available Galaxy S i9000 and S II i9100 suggest, these will be Sammy’s top of the line Android handsets. Only flagship devices will be S-branded
R (Royal or Refined) – still high-end devices, but not as good as the S ones. “A combination of power, performance and productivity for the individual who wants to be defined by the technology they carry”
W (Wonder) – “high quality, strategic models, perfect for those seeking a balance between style and performance”
M – (Magical) – these should be “high-performance” phones “at an economic price-point”
Y – (Young) – cheap devices for teens or emerging markets
