Digitimes is reporting that Apple [AAPL] is currently testing out touchscreen technology for a future generation iMac. We have heard these rumours before although as of yet, nothing has surfaced just yet.
The touchscreens being used in testing are supposedly capacitive panels supplied by Sinek Photronics.
Although we take rumours with a pinch of salt, it will probably happen at some point in the future. The main question is when. With Apple behind it, we assume that it needs to stick to various quality standards such as not affecting the screen image quality and actually being usable and fun to use. Until that point, we’ll probably just see the usual slight redesign with a but more power and nicer screen.
