Transcend have launched a new range of SDHC memory cards that fall in to the Class 10 category that allows data to be transferred up to 20MB/s compared to older Class 6 cards that can transfer data at up to 6MB/s.
On the higher end of the card capacities the largest can store up to 16GB of data and with the Class 10 status, it allows for video and audio to be played at a higher rate. This can allow for HD video recording quite easily.
With Class 10 cards the actual speeds are 10MB/s write and 16MB/s read preventing lag on even full HD at 60 frames per second. By using these cards in gadgets such as high performance digital SLR cameras it allows for quicker writing for burst modes.
To meet the requirements of high-megapixel DSLRs that can fill memory cards quickly, Transcend Ultimate SDHC cards are available in high-capacity sizes ranging from 4GB to 16GB. The 16GB SDHC card can store up to 6552 pictures (based on 5 megapixel JPEG compression format), over 88 hours of standard quality video (MPEG-4 video at 384 Kbps), or 240 minutes of HD video (AVCHD at 9 Mbps), providing photography enthusiasts with sufficient space for their high-resolution digital masterpieces. Currently offered in 4GB, 8GB to 16GB versions, Transcend’s new Ultimate series Class 10 SDHC cards are highly recommended for entry to mid-level digital camera or camcorder users.
