We mentioned in an earlier post about Walmart selling the iPad (as of today in fact). It now seems Verizon will be jumping onto the same bandwagon as they have announced that they’ll be doing the same from October 28th no less, across 2000 of their online stores.
They’ll be the usual, various bundles available though these will also come with Verizon’s MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot. This is a small device that gives the user access to the company’s own 3G network. When the user is away from a Wi-Fi hotspot, iPad owners will need to connect to the MiFi 2200 from the iPad itself. They’ve also said that the MiFi’s “cloud” allows it to provide Web access through the company’s 3G network to up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices at the same time.
These bundles include one such at $630 which, for your money, will get you a 16GB iPad Wi-Fi as well as the mobile hotspot. For $730 you’ll get the slightly upgraded 32GB iPad with the mobile hotspot and then you can purchase the 64GB iPad with hotspot to tow for $830.
As an option though, you can also purchase one of Apple’s iPad without the hotspot but pricing hasn’t yet been confirmed by Verizon.
