The Vertical Mouse comes from Evoluent and is designed to beat RSI (Repetitive Stress Injury).
It achieves this by letting the user use the mouse in a more friendly way to how the wrist is constructed. When studied by a bunch of scientists they found that it was the best neutral position for the wrist and forearm posture.
The Evoluent VerticalMouse 2 was evaluated in 2007 by a team at the health services clinic in UC Berkeley, including medical doctors, physical therapists, ergonomists, and administrators. It was found to be comfortable, easily adapted to, and promote a neutral wrist and forearm posture. It is the only vertical type mouse approved for staff use within UC Berkeley and for sale in the campus store.
There are 2 versions of this new mouse out which are wired and wireless. The wired one sells for $80 while the wireless version sells for $120.
