On the back of some shaky evidence it appears that the much anticipated Wii MotionPlus could be made available in the next couple of months.
The rumours are floating around due to some information over at Nintendo Power which were revealed in an interview. The quote in question mentions the following…
Thomas Singleton (EA) and his Vancouver-based team hope to take things to the next level, thanks in no small part to the Wii MotionPlus accessory (due out prior to Grand Slam’s release).
A bit of extra research by GoNintendo has revealed that Grand Slam Tennis is actually due out on June 18th meaning the MotionPlus could be available just before it.
What is the MotionPlus?
For those of you who are unaware of what we are actually talking about here, the MotionPlus is a small device that attaches to the bottom of a Wii controller. The device “allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player’s arm position and orientation”. The extra sensitive tracking features allow for more accurate game play. It uses the same system of accelerometers that the WiiMote uses, but in this case they are far more sensitive and calibrated better and provide a 1:1 ratio. Move the controller an inch and the object on screen will move an inch.
